10 Blamey Place
O'CONNOR WA

We would like to thank all the guys/gals that have had their servicing needs met at Leederville for their custom, it has been a great 10 year stint in the Perth CBD but as the business has evolved, we are on the move.

We will be carrying out servicing by appointment on Saturdays once we are settled and hopefully this will help out some of the loyal customer base that we have built up over the years. As the date approaches we will have new contact numbers, but until then you can reach us on (08) 9388 0250 or 0408 911 767.

The WA Performance and Service Center team was out in force for the Perth round of Auto Salon 2008, held at the convention centre on 26 and 27 July. With a solid history of 'go', the Aussie V8's were out for the punters to see that they also had the 'show' factor, with all cars polished up and looking up their with the best on display. The huge two day event saw large crowds come through to see the mix of cars on display, including WA Performance's N/A, turbo'ed, twin-turbo'ed and supercharged cars (and one of the meaner off-roaders you will see).

WA Performance & Service Centre are proud to present LEGITT - Twin Turbo E Series Clubsport R8:

- Full ADR 79/01 Emissions Tested and approved
- Engineer Certified
- Fully Noise Tested
- Fully Licensed - Western Australian DPI

This weeks final licensing tests mark the end of a long road, and mark the achievement of the goal to get a fully approved, street legal Turbo V8 LSX. WA Performance has worked in conjunction with LS1 Turbo to gain full compliance for their Gen TT VE system. This was a long and thorough process, starting with emissions testing at the Orbital Corporation testing facilities in Perth. This is an extensive series of tests, with the achieving of the ADR 79/01 compliance no mean feat. The whole process was documented in Street Commodores June 2008 issue (140) which goes into great detail on the process (click for article).

Once this was achieved, the work wasn't over, the next step was to get full engineers certification. As testament to the quality of the Gen TT kit and the WA Performance installation, all components passed with flying colours. From here it was time to visit the Western Australian DPI, certificates in hand, to take the Clubsport over the pits. While a great achievement for all involved, the licensing provides Western Australian E Series owners a new option for a street legal performance package. Look out for more news as it comes to hand...

WA Performance & Service Centre VU SS Ute
Western Australia's first N/A 346ci LS1 10 second pass

The workshop VUSS50 was purchased some 12 odd months ago with one thing in mind - workshop bunky, come drag Super Street car. After driving it around as a bolt on stocker for most of that time, the decision was made to send the car over to Victoria for the 2008 LS1 Drag Nationals.

It was Deb that was going to drive the car and her deal was, it had to be auto and run on Drag Radials. So with this in mind we put out the call to a couple of our suppliers as to combo’s and set about transforming the car. We removed the engine and t56 trans from the car and stripped the heads off the engine. These were replaced by a set of Higgins Race Developments hand ported cylinder heads fitted with double valve springs. A set of comp lifters went in with a double row timing chain and a cam chosen to fit with the std 120,000 k bottom end. A Fast 90 manifold and throttle body were sourced with bigger injectors, fuel rails and a surge tank was also fitted with an 044 pump with braided stainless fuel lines. With the durability of the transmission being required for drag duties, the call to Simon at Allfast Converters was placed. The result is a manualised T400 and matched converter to suit the approx hp of the engine. The engine and trans were then reunited with the car along with an auto oil cooler, shifter and tail shaft mod. Some drag oriented suspension was added at the same time.

With time running out to get this car to the Nats it was place in railbox for the journey over, untuned and untested. We arrived in Melbourne on the Thursday morning prior to the Nats and spent the day swapping rockers and setting up the car at GM Motorsports. Late that afternoon we were able to get it onto the dyno and with little time spent, were able to get a tune into it that were making reasonable numbers consistently being repeated. Debbie raced the car with little more than a change of rear wheels to a new set of Drag Radials. For the event were able to achieve repeatable 11.4s @ 119 mph and netting a best of 11.39 .

Back in Perth, the decision was made to prep the car to try and crack a 10. We removed the tailgate, passenger’s seat and added a fuel cell. Drove the car down to the track changed to slicks and front runners for the first time, got thru scrutineering line up for a first pass of

10.97 @123.28 mph

Thanks again to our loyal crew that have supported and encouraged us to enjoy our drag racing this year.

Thanks to:

A massive turnout for Holden v Ford at the Motorplex with 175 odd entries, and the staging lanes packed full, with plenty of late model cars slicked up and ready to go.

WA Performance had over 8 cars flying the Holden flag, each one giving it their best. Interesting results that's for sure, with H/C cars, FI cars and Cam only manuals, as well as bolt ons...pretty much every field/class was represented on the night.

Check out Biante12 for more images of the 2008 LS1 Drag Nationals.

We would just like to start by saying a big thank you to all involved in our trip to the Australian LS1 and Holden Nationals. It was a huge effort to get the two utes setup, trucked to Melbourne, further setup and then driven to Bendigo ready to race.

Special mentions to GM Motorsport for letting us take over part of their workshop, without the help of Phonz and the guys and the space to make last minute tweaks we wouldn't have made it to the track.

Local thanks go to:

  • Simon & Adrian -Allfast Convertors
  • Jeff - Toll Priority
  • Current Trendz
  • M Dynamics

with Victorian support from:

  • Higgins Race Developments
  • GM Motorsports

Now for the racing - just getting to the event was a big achievement, but the team were there to race, with Adam in his silver VYSS and Deb piloting the WA Performance and Service Centre VUSS. Adam's SS, with a WA Performance & Service Centre cam only package, recently livened up with the addition of a Gen-T1000 turbo hit some solid times, ending the weekend with best times of 10.90@131 mph and 10.99@133 mph. Converted to auto, and running a stock bottom end with a head an cam package, Deb took the VU to a best of 11.39 @ 119 mph.

The figures only tell half the story, the times were one thing, for us the big result was to be involved in an event like this and meet up with other members of the LS1 community.

Bring on 2009 (after a nice long holiday...)

We are heading East to run at the LS1 & Holden Nationals, held at Heathcote Raceway on the 10th and 11th of April.

This weekend of racing will see some of Australia's top Holdens run on the track, every workshop leading in this field from the Eastern states will be there! We have been over to this event for the last 3 years and trust me some of these boys are real characters with real world results at drag racing....The legends from Horsepower hero's at the Summer Nats attend, the quickest N/A LS1 in the country belonging to Nathan Higgins, blown, stroked, turboed, and N/A the Nats has it all..

This year we will be showcasing Quicksilver, a VY SS Ute owned by Adam & Lemona. This car is making the long trek to hopefully run some 10 second passes and take out a class. Adam is a keen drag racer and loves nothing better than some stiff competition...

We wish you well Adam and hope you enjoy the Nationals.

Update: The cars are now loaded and on the truck to east, sporting a new set of WA Performance & Service Centre decals, so you won't be able to miss the team from the WA...

Congratulations go to Brad, making his Motorplex debut in his VX SS, running 11.97, 11.87 and 11.85 in his first night on the track.

The car runs a WA Performance & Service Centre cam only package, with underdrive, throttle body, 3.9 gears. stall, full weight including tow bar and a Higgins OTR, as well as a set of drag radials. Overall power figure is a healthy 363rwhp.

Brad's combo is a is a WA Performance cam grind - Mitch works in conjunction with Nathan Higgins in selecting cam shaft profiles to suit every customers needs. In addition, the stall comes from some R & D work done with Allfast Convertors. All of this has come together to create a daily driver with track times to back up the rest of the figures.

Look out for Brad to be back at the track to chip away at these times soon...

WA Performance and Service Centre would like to congratulate all of the guys and girls who ran their cars last season.

WA Performance and Service Centre made the trek east to Bendigo an put on show at Heathcote in Victoria

The LS1 turbo VX Clubsport braved the class of LSSS up against some outstanding cars from around the country. The Clubbie ran a best of 10.9 @ 136mph which WA Performance were happy with, especially as the Clubbie was driven from Melbourne to Bendigo, then on to Heathcote. When the guys arrived the slicks were bolted on and the Clubbie was ready to race.

WA Performance would like to express thanks to Textralia Clutches for helping by sponsoring the car from and back to Perth.

After some close calls, Deb from WA Performance & Service Centre has run an 11 in her VX R8 Clubsport. After a string of 12's, then a previous PB of 11.98, the VX has now run 11.7 @ 114mph at Holden v. Ford at the Motorplex on 9th December. The daily driven cammed HSV was running at full weight on the night on a set of ET streets.

We said there was more time in the Yella Terra, and Wazza has pedaled his VY SS ute to even better times in the last couple of weeks. Following on from his 11.98 @ 118 mph, Wazza hit a 11.55 @ 120 mph in a follow up session, then set a new PB of 11.3 @ 121 mph at the Oct 7th Test n Tune at the Motorplex.

The Quit Motorplex is open again for a new season of racing, and the opening was eagerly greeted by all of the team who had been working on their cars over winter. The wait was worthwhile with some good times early, and signs of plenty more to come.

The WA Performance & Service Centre VX Clubsport (full street trim including wheels and tyres, Higgins OTR and 84mm Throttle body, exhaust, 3.73 gears stall convertor and LS1Edit.com.au MAFless tune) ran a best of 12.7 @ 107.91 mph for its Motorplex debut, and has now bettered this to record a 12.31 @ 110mph.

Following on from his 1st place for LS1 opened at the Holden v. Ford show, Warren hit the track in his VY SS Ute to record a 11.98 @ 118 mph, with plenty of signs that there is even lower times to come.

WA Performance & Service Centre and the WAPerfUtes crew headed into Ford territory for the Black Mac Dyno day. The team did the Holden (or Chev) badge proud, with the WA Performance & Service Centre VY SS taking out 1st place Turbo, and Warren (Yella Terra), Adam (Attnseeker) and John (Biante12) taking 2nd, 4th and 5th respectively in the N/A class. Big thanks to the crew for letting us compete in what was a top day.

Holden v. Ford 2006 saw a lot of hard work come together for a two day showcase of some of the finest cars in the country. The hard work from the WA Performance & Service Centre team was evident with a standout display featuring a range of customer cars, all polished and looking their best.

To prove they had the performance to match the looks, dyno competition saw WA Performance & Service Centre cars take out top honours in three classes:

LS1 Unopened
- 1st Place Adam Waters 342.4 HP WAPERFORMANCE/CCCWA - ATTNSEEKR
- 2nd Place Colin Whitelaw 339.5 HP WAPERFORMANCE/CCCWA - DARKNE55Z

LS1 Opened
- 1st Place Warren Sexton 425.6 HP WAPERFORMANCE - YELLA TERRA
- 2nd Place Clinton Rushton 414.2 HP GM MOTORSPORT/WAPERFORMANCE - PRO 346

LS1/2 Single Turbo
- 1st Place Kerry Beeston 610.4 HP WAPERFORMANCE - DV8
- 2nd Place Mitch Larner 543.1 HP WAPERFORMANCE/CCCWA - WAVTGEN111

Huge Congratulations to Justin Chaffey - aka Hotlap, setting an impressive mark in his VY SS M6 346ci N/A ute. 10 May at the Motorplex, Hotlap started the night slowly getting a feel of a car on slicks. Second run in and 12.4 , third run 12.1, then last run of the night, launched hard on a track with little to no prep left in it and ran a new PB of 11.95 @ 115mph.

The aim was to run an 11 but the track was far from good, and this car is far from finished. It was great to see an 11 run this season, next season will be even better. This car runs unopened engine, it has a LS1 Edit Mafless tune, small headers and catback exhaust, CAI, stock clutch, standard shifter, 4-11 diff gears, after market front shocks, slicks and front runners. the only weight reduction on the car was to remove the tailgate and passenger seat.

Many thanks again to our support crew - John, Tim, Wazza, Adam, Clint.
